July 4, 2016 – Synnex, a leading IT distribution company in Australia and New Zealand, today announced a distribution agreement with Megaport, a leading global provider of elastic interconnection services. As part of the new agreement, Synnex will now distribute Megaport’s Elastic Interconnection platform featuring cloud networking services, Virtual Cross Connect (VXC) services and Internet Exchange services through the Synnex Cloud Automation Platform.

Using our power portal or API, customers can provision direct connectivity to our broad ecosystem of service providers in less than 60 seconds.”

 

Synnex is providing Channel Partners access to Megaport’s interconnection services using the Synnex Cloud Automation Platform to instantly provision and establish secure connections from any of the “Megaported” data center locations.  Currently Megaport is operational in seven metropolitan markets in Asia Pacific (Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Hong Kong, and Singapore), connecting a variety of major data centers including Equinix, NEXTDC and Global Switch facilities among others. Megaport also operates in North America and will soon launch services in Europe.

Michael Tea, General Manager, Ecommerce & Cloud Services, Synnex Australia, said, “With the recent appointment of Synnex to the Microsoft CSP (Cloud Solution Provider) program and the Megaport partnership, we will offer secure connections using the Megaport API’s to Express Route for Office 365 and Azure services on a monthly subscription model.  Channel Partners can also deploy Barracuda’s NextGen Firewall F to secure Express Route offering their end clients a comprehensive solution for a safer cloud.”

 

Megaport was founded in 2013 and pioneered Elastic Interconnection services.  Using Software Defined Networking the Company has developed a platform that provides customers with the ability to provision interconnection services between their network and other networks and cloud providers already connected to the Megaport Fabric.  Services can be directly controlled by the customer via a device such as a mobile phone or tablet, their computer or Megaport’s open API.

 

Since commencing operations in January 2014, Megaport now operates across fifteen markets in six countries, has over 200 active customers and partnerships with some of the world's major cloud service providers, network operators, and content providers.
