Synnex Australia on track with second logistics centre in Sydney

27 February, 2020 - Synnex Australia has revealed that they are on schedule to commence the construction of their second logistics centre (DC2) in the local market.

The expansion will include a $30 million investment in increasing Synnex’s footprint by an additional 8,200sqm to the current adjoining 10,000sqm location in Lidcombe, Sydney.

The four-level facility will feature a 29.3m high-automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) building run by their own sophisticated data analytics engine, developed to maximise efficiency and accuracy. The purpose-built facility will have a dedicated floor level fitted out to handle full-scale configuration services.

This project will build on the capabilities of their first $50 million automated facility (DC1) which was officially opened in March 2014.

"This new facility will play an important role in supporting the logistics and fulfilment needs of our channel partners," said Kee Ong, Synnex Australia CEO. "The investment is consistent with our initiative to streamline logistics efficiency as part of our five-year growth strategic plan," he added.

Ong continued, "This expansion demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the local ICT market, future proofing our business and value-add for our partners."

DC2 is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2021. It will increase the pallet capacity by over 60%, bin location by over 200% and processing capacity by 250%.
